Dr. Karakurum graduated from Ankara University Medical School located in Turkey in 1986. Completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Gastreoenterology Fellowship in 1994 at Nassau University Medical Center located at East Meadow, NY where he remained as a teaching faculty member. After serving as Chief of Gastroenterology and Program Director of Gastroenterology Fellowship, he pursued private practice in Port Jefferson, NY since 2004. He currently has admitting privileges at Mather Northwell Hospital and Saint Charles Hospital.
He is an Elected Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology, and American College of Physicians. He has been selected among America's Top Gastroenterologists by different entities and has been named a five-star physician by HealthGrades and Top Patients Choice award.
